Tutorial for Ring Casting with the Lampert FUSION

The Lampert FUSION is a compact tabletop casting centrifuge designed for professional ring casting in gold and silver alloys. This tutorial gives a simple overview of the casting process, from preparation to removing the finished ring blank.

Important: Always read the official FUSION operating manual before use.

1. Wear Protective Equipment

Safety comes first. Wear heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses, leather apron if available, and long-sleeve non-flammable clothing.

2. Prepare the Mold

Apply a suitable mold release agent to the mold and all parts that may touch molten metal. This helps remove the ring after casting and reduces heat loss.

3. Prepare the Correct Amount of Metal

Use the correct amount of gold or silver alloy. Do not overload the crucible. The FUSION is designed for gold and silver alloys only.

4. Use Argon Shielding Gas When Available

Argon shielding gas can help improve casting quality, especially when using previously cast alloy or old jewelry.

5. Select the Rotation Speed

Choose the speed based on the alloy and material amount. In many cases, around 1200–1800 RPM is enough, depending on the application.

6. Melt the Alloy

For best results, use a propane-oxygen flame. Heat the alloy until it is fully melted and flows smoothly. Avoid overheating, as this may cause porosity.

7. Cast the Ring

When the metal is fully melted, pour it smoothly and continuously into the center of the mold opening. After pouring, stop the rotation.

8. Let It Cool

Turn off the flame, close the gas valves, and switch off the machine. Let the FUSION and all parts cool for at least 5 minutes or longer.

9. Remove the Ring Blank

Once cooled, remove the mold housing, open the mold, and take out the ring blank.

10. Clean and Recoat the Mold

After several castings, clean the mold carefully and apply release agent again before the next use.
